R.I.P Gerby... Now R.I.P Homestar...posted Mar 29th 2009, 5:40AM
Mood: Lonely
A week before Halloween, Gerby died. Now, on my brother's birthday, Homestar died. I already noticed the signs of his death 2 days before today. He was weak, tired, slow, and he never opened his eyes. He kept leaning over to the side, and rolling over. Today, my sister told me to look at Homestar cuz he looked cute (as usual) So I picked him up. But he felt soo cold! He was still alive. So my sister and I tried to keep him as warm as possible. A while later, my mother came home. I eyes were red and wet. I was so afraid, so we all stayed around Homestar, petting him, trying to spend as much time with him as possible. 15 minutes later, my brother came home. We told him whats going on, so he joined up for a bit. Then everyone went back to doing other stuff. I, on the other hand, held Homestar. Looking at him, petting and cuddling him. I sat in front of the t.v with him on my stomach. He just laid there, as if he was sleeping. Then we celebrated my brother's birthday. I didn't eat any cake, my fear was too strong to eat yummy ice cream cake.
I then sat in front of the t.v with Homestar. Another 15 minutes later, I when you see my mother and brother. Suddenly, Homestar started to flinch and jump around. He jumped out of my hands twice, landing on the floor. He was about 3 ft. from the ground. We all freaked out. So I put him back in the cage. He just laid there, so I took him back out. But I passed him to my brother so I can wash my hands (he peed on my for the first time in forever) We thought he was afraid or something. Once my brother handed Homestar back to me, Homestar acted all weird, his legs for twitching, and he kept stretching his mouth.... A few seconds later... he stopped. But his unusual movements weren't the only thing that stopped. His heart and breathing stopped too. Homestar died in my hands.
For another 1 1/2 hours, I held his dead, cooling body. I wanted to spend a little more time with him. Even if he's already dead. I just wanted to enjoy the last moments of feeling his soft, caramel fur. Slowly, he began to harden. (Don't dis me for continuing to pet his dead body for am 1 1/2 hours!)
Now, we put him in a case to send him to the vet place to burn his body. I want his ashes, I wanted Gerby's ashed, but it was to late to request to have them back... I think Homestar died in pain, while Gerby died peacefully in his sleep.
I think one of the causes of his death was a tumor. He had a big round bump on his stomach. It was never there before. He had it a while after Gerby died. Another is reason is because he was old. Homestar was 4 years old. Gerby was 3 years old.
Now I'm gonna be depressed for a looong time. I don't have any of them now... What am I gonna do when I'm lonely, and/or home alone?
